Watchmaker TAG Heuer has announced that Leonardo DiCaprio will be taking over for Brad Pitt as part of their “What Are You Made Of” ad campaign. The 34-year-old actor will be the world ambassador for the best-selling Carrera timepiece line. The three-year agreement is a unique one for TAG Heuer and DiCaprio, with the royalties generated from the deal as well as a multi-million-dollar commitment from Leo going to support major environmental initiatives.
“TAG Heuer is a strong brand with a proven commitment to doing good,” said DiCaprio. “It is a great day when a company as respected as TAG Heuer explores a different way to do business—selling products and giving back at the same time. I’m very excited to start this new partnership, and look forward to a long relationship with TAG Heuer. He added, “TAG and I will be making donations to some of the most influential and effective environmental organizations around. Each and every day, these organizations are doing important work to ensure our planet’s resources future generations. Hopefully, our donations will help expand their reach and raise their profile.”
This isn’t the first time DiCaprio has used the watch scene to further environmental initiatives. Back in July of 2008, the actor signed on with Jaeger-LeCoultre to help promote a one-of-a-kind $300,000 timepiece. 100% of the sales went directly to the Leonardo DiCaprio Fund.

TAG Heuer Monaco, 40 Years of Legend
Launched simultaneously in Geneva and New York on March 3rd, 1969, the Monaco caught the watchmaking world by storm. The provocative look of the timepiece, with its fire-red chronograph hand, metallic blue dial, domed crystal, and big, squared-off case represented a complete break with the conventional codes of watch design aesthetics. Equally radical was the engineering required to ensure the chronograph’s perfect water-resistance — a world first for a square-shaped timepiece. But what was ticking inside was even more revolutionary: the famous self-winding Chronomatic “Calibre 11”, the first self-winding automatic chronograph movement with microrotor, so precise it rivals to this day the exacting standards of professional chronometer instruments.
For Le Mans, Steve McQueen’s source of inspiration was his friend, Jo Siffert, the Swiss racecar legend who in 1969 became the first-ever driver sponsored by a watch brand, Heuer. The Heuer Monaco had just been launched and so impressed McQueen that he insisted on wearing it in the film.

DiCaprio becomes TAG Heuer Global Ambassador
Washington, Jan 10 (ANI): Leonard DiCaprio is set to take on the role as TAG Heuer Global Ambassador, it has emerged.
A position that Bard Pitt has occupied for six years has now been given to the Titanic star, according to reports.
The famous ambassadors of the brand include Tiger Woods and Maria Sharapova.
Based on more than just good looks, the ambassador is chosen based on the reflection of the brands What Are You Made Of campaign.

Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes
F1 Champion and TAG Heuer Ambassador Lewis Hamilton kicked off the event by taking on Olympic gold medal cyclist Chris Hoy on a parade lap in a Mercedes. Then, after Germany beat Scandinavia to retain the Nations Cup, the 23-year-old Briton returned in his F1 title-winning Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. The youngest-ever F1 Champion gave a thrilling demonstration of driving donuts — a maneuver banned in F1 — before thanking the 40 000 fans for their support over the year.
Sebastian Vettel
Seven-time F1 Champion Michael Schumacher and TAG Heuer Ambassador Sebastian Vettel took the Nations Cup for Team Germany for the second consecutive year, beating out the Scandinavian pair of friend of the brand Mattias Ekström and Denmark’s Tom Kristensen. The first and second place teams were presented with TAG Heuer F1 44mm Chronographs by Antoine Pin, Managing Director of LVMH Watch and Jewellery UK.
In the Race of Champions, in which drivers from various racing disciplines compete individually, five-time world rally champ Sébastien Loeb prevailed over the UK’s David Coulthard in the best-of-three final. The two drivers were presented with TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Day-Date Chronographs.

TAG wins Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève
TAG Heuer has won the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Gen?ve award for the fifth time. The Swiss watch brand was awarded on Wednesday for its Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper Chronograph, which was first unveiled in April at Basel World.
The luxury watch brand’s Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper Chronograph was awarded in the sports category of the awards. This watch was also awarded this year at China’s Most Successful Design Award and at Salon Internacional de Alta Relojeria in Mexico.
