HONG KONG – Swarovski Hong Kong’s Sparkling Crystal Tunnel campaign stole the limelight at the seventh The Best of the Best Awards 2008 MTR Advertising ceremony at the Grand Hyatt last night, as not only did it scoop the Best of the Best – Use of Media Platinum Award, Best Branding Campaign Gold Award, Creative Agency of the Year, and My Favourite Campaign Gold Award (online voting by the public), but it was also the only brand which did all creative and media planning and buying in-house.

A new award will be added to this the third annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards (IHDA). Crystallized – Swarovski Elements, will sponsor a new category, inviting designers to create innovative new handbags and compete for the Award, ‘Best Use of Crystallized’. – Swarovski Elements’. This collaboration will inspire handbag designers to incorporate crystals as a creative ingredient.
For the first time all registered designers may participate by submitting a detailed sketch of their handbag design, incorporating Crystallized – Swarovski Elements. Designers are encouraged to create bags of any material or silhouette while utilizing the Swarovski Elements as embellishment, trimming or as part of the core concept. The five best ideas will be chosen by the Handbag Designer 101 Preliminary Judging Panel, giving the selected designers unlimited access to Crystallized – Swarovski Elements, to execute their final design. The winner will be announced at the annual awards ceremony on June 17, 2009 at The New York Historical Society.

Luxury crystal glass brand Swarovski recently graced its headquarter building in Wattens (Tyrol), Austria in a nearly 250 meter long transparent metal curtain. The fabric, made of 26,250,000 flexible stainless steel rings, rises ten meters in height and is dynamically illuminated by 133 Martin Professional Inground 200™ color changers.

Swarovski to open new store at Sydney T1
Sydney Airport Corp Ltd (SACL) has announced that crystal jewellery supplier Swarovski is set to open a new store at Sydney International airport terminal one as part of a A$500m ($337.4m) expansion and upgrade of the airport’s international terminal. The Swarovski boutique in The Forum shopping area will be decorated in collaboration with Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka and is due to open in 2010.
SACL general manager retail Derek Larsen said: “Swarovski, celebrated around the world as an international crystal specialist, aligns with [our] vision to deliver the best and will be a welcome addition to the new shopping precinct in the redeveloped international terminal. The newly-designed Swarovski boutique, in itself a revelation of ingenuity and creativity, will be created to evoke visions of a forest filled with shimmering crystals.”
He added: “Our goal is to create a shopping arena that will attract the world’s best brands and, in so doing, capture the hearts and minds of the 10m people who travel through T1 each year by delivering an exciting, seamless transition between shopping and travel.”
